Commercial companies such as Moderna, AstraZeneca, Janssen & Janssen and Pfizer / BioNTech can of course, only be expected to display their products as beautifully as possible in the pharmaceutical industry’s window, even if the reality has to be slightly embellished and distorted for this. The ultimate goal of these companies is to make a profit, to make a lot of profit, and that includes advertising, which is to emphasize the advantages and cover up the disadvantages. Natuurlijk kan men van commerciële bedrijven als Moderna, AstraZeneca, Janssen & Janssen en Pfizer/BioNTech niet anders verwachten dan dat zij hun producten zo mooi mogelijk in de etalage van de farmaceutische industrie zetten, ook al moet de realiteit hiervoor enigszins verfraaid en verdraaid worden. Het ultieme doel van deze bedrijven is winst maken, heel veel winst maken, en daarbij hoort reclame, ofwel het benadrukken van de voordelen van het product en het verdoezelen van de nadelen. Dit is in de medische wereld een bekend gegeven, en is al vele malen beschreven.

Looking at the current situation regarding SARS-CoV-2, you will see a major fiasco is gradually emerging. Of course, profits are skyrocketing for companies like Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech, with more than eight million jabs in the Netherlands alone. The number of hospital and ICU admissions is dropping rapidly and Hugo de Jonge is shouting victory, because he believes to have found the way out of the Corona swamp. The fact that numbers were dropping approximately at the same rate in 2020 without vaccination, doesn’t fit into the simple world view of this lost school teacher.

And yet…

Het Vaccinatiefiasco.

Wie de huidige situatie rondom de vaccinatiecampagne tegen SARS-CoV-2 in ogenschouw neemt, ziet dat zich zo langzamerhand een groot fiasco aftekent. Zeker, bedrijven zoals Moderna en Pfizer/BioNTech maken torenhoge winsten, het aantal prikken alleen al in Nederland is inmiddels gestegen tot boven de acht miljoen, het aantal ziekenhuisopnames en IC-opnames daalt snel, en Hugo de Jonge kraait victorie. Hij meent de uitweg uit het coronamoeras gevonden te hebben. Dat in 2020 alle cijfers zonder de beschikbaarheid van een vaccin bij benadering even snel daalden, past niet in het simpele wereldbeeld van deze verdwaalde schoolmeester.

Het Aardappelmannetje

 

Vanochtend stond hij weer voor de deur: ons aardappelmannetje.

Inmiddels 88 jaar geschiedenis, samengebald in een klein, vriendelijk en door het leven verkreukeld en verbogen mannetje. Hij kwam enkele jaren geleden zo maar aanwaaien in zijn brommobiel. Een spontane gebeurtenis, niks besteld, niets gereserveerd, nooit gepland, hij was er gewoon opeens. En hij bleef in de jaren erna komen, steeds met dezelfde vraag:

“Hebben jullie nog een zakje aardappelen nodig?”
